It is easy to get stuck focusing on unanswered prayers and unfulfilled promises. But Psalm 124 invites us to ask a different and more powerful question: where would we be if God had not been on our side? David wrote this song of ascent as a reflection on everything God had brought Israel through, and he chose worship over bitterness even after years of hardship, hiding from Saul, and waiting for a promise that seemed impossibly delayed. That same posture of gratitude is available to us today.
God's faithfulness shows up in many forms. Sometimes He answers prayer immediately and supernaturally. Other times, like He told the apostle Paul, His grace is sufficient to carry us through a long and difficult season. Both are expressions of His goodness. Real-life examples of His faithfulness include promises spoken years before they were fulfilled, tumors that disappeared without explanation, and stories of people who walked through their lowest moments only to find themselves standing in the middle of a miracle they could not have engineered on their own.
The greatest danger in a season of waiting is not the wait itself. It is giving up during the wait. When we stop trusting and sit down in discouragement, we risk missing what God has already prepared for us. The practical response is to take time this week to write out your own list of moments where God intervened in your life. Let that list become an act of worship and a renewed foundation of trust. His promises do not expire, and the evidence of His hand is already written all over your story.
